Library training for 1st year undergraduate students

The subject is addressed to students starting their studies at our University. Classes are held at the beginning of the academic year. Dates of training for individual groups of students are agreed with the authorities of the faculties. The training lasts 2 hours. Form of classes: a lecture with elements of workshops and consultations, during which students independently search for scientific literature on a topic of their interest, a tour of the Library of BUT building and e-learning.

Training program:

  • general information about the library and information system,
  • opening hours,
  • basic information about the Library,
  • information about the library’s collections and the rules of their sharing,
  • using the online catalog and the PRIMO search engine,
  • searching for library materials in catalogues, booking and ordering books, ways to extend the deadline for returning borrowed books,
  • library services.

Realization:

  • Information on training dates can be found on the faculties’ websites in the timetables. The training takes place in Library of BUT (the building of the Center for Modern Education, 16 Zwierzyniecka Street). Group meeting at the Informatory (level 0).
  • The training can be conducted in the form of an e-learning course available on the BUT Educational Portal. Library training must be activated each time for a specific user.

Attendance at classes or a positively completed e-learning course determines the completion of the course.
